The Formidable Manfiesto of Magnificent Fools

we r beautiful
and maybe only the fools have faith
but we r those fools

we r beautiful
and maybe it is foolish to believe that anything is possible
but we have blazoned banners over billboards, of sunlight and sky
because we have an inalienable right to the authorship of our own lives
and once the spell was broken, we cut those monsters open
and from the bellies of telles
pulled bleary-eyed children back, blinking into day
now let there be imagination, again
and let there be creativity, again
and let there be a relentless commitment to the expressions of beauty
that beauty seeks in us
so that we may one day rise up and touch that promise of a people
of a species called into awkward chorus but glorious because it is written
together
we r those fools

we r beautiful
and maybe it is foolish to enter the world unarmed
but we have lept barefooted from the trenches
with nothing but umbrellas and the best intentions
we have stood surrendered and defenseless
beneath a white tea-towels strung up and suspended from a broomstick
this! is how fragile we are
every human is fragile
and it is this process of being gently broken open, of being woken into a delicate weeping
reeling from the taste of tears on yr fingers
that will show us just how we can love u more
let yr house of bravado collapse into invitation
we r those fools

we r beautiful
and maybe it is foolish to dance like everyone is watching
but our shame and our underpants are cast off and scattered, left hanging from the ceiling fans
just look at us now!
let the end of hiding call out everything that is hidden
and let us be seen
let the end of hiding call out everything that is hidden
and though the roads we have chosen
have left us open and exposed to humiliation and bindies
the hurt and the hammers of those who hate mirrors and other such things
of beauty
let us choose to love more than is practical
or necessary
just as we ask to be loved more than is precedented
or appropriate
we r those fools

we know that to see and experience the world this way
is still a ridiculous idea
but maybe only the fools have faith
and we are those fools
